Katrina Parker grew up in the small town of Holly Ridge, North Carolina with big dreams! Part of a large outgoing family, she was always more on the shy side, but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her passion for music. As a teenager she started out singing for her church choir, which gave her the itch to later enroll in college for vocal performance.
Before Parker had the opportunity to share her voice with the nation, a health issue forced her to take a two year break from music. Following her recovery, a friend convinced Parker to attend a private L.A. audition for season 2 of NBC’s hit show The Voice. She gained a spot on Team Adam led by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. With her dreams in the palm of her hand, she got caught up in what she called, “a fabulous tornado! It was the most magical and transformative thing I’ve ever experienced!”
With a voice described as “powerful but tender,” “passionate” (LA Times) and “flawless,” the L.A. singer/songwriter went on to become a fan favorite, a Top 8 Semi-Finalist and “the embodiment of [The Voice]” (Rolling Stone). Stunning live performances of songs such as Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts” as well as the The Fugees “Killing Me Softly” won America’s hearts and prompted Christina Aguilera to exclaim “Take a look at Katrina Parker because she’s a star,” a sentiment echoed by fans around the world. Being a part of Adam’s team on the show helped Parker realize her full potential.
Parker is now working on her debut album, which is set to release in September 2013. With the influence of some of her greatest inspirations such as Dolly Parton, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Frank Sinatra, she will feature variety of music. The album will have an array of heavy slinky mid-tempo, electro pop, up-tempo, some deep material, and covers of great hits. It can best be described as pop music for grown ups. Parker showcased some of her upcoming tracks in recent performances on Hallmark Channel’s The Marie Show and Home & Family.
To coincide with her album release, Parker would like to go on tour to share her music with her fans. Her long-term goals and aspirations include partaking in more charity events, as well as collaborating on a plus size, pin up style clothing line.
In her spare time Parker enjoys kayaking, camping, reading horror stories, decorating cookies, roller skating, as well as watching “Judge Judy” and “Downton Abbey”. She adores her two Yorkshire dogs, Louis and Pepe. She also has a zombie fascination as well as watching funny cat videos.
