So, as you may or may not know, myself and Rianne are off to Africa in September. It’s all very exciting and we promise to keep you updated with all of our moves. While it is a business trip, we are going to try and squeeze in some sight seeing so I’m beginning to work out what to wear! what makeup to take! etc etc. First and foremost, I’m sorting out what to take in my hand luggage. It’s an eight hour flight, so alongside the trashy magazines I’ve decided on some key products I’ll be taking with me to Africa…
1. Ted Baker Notebook.
I’ll be taking a few notebooks with me for scheduling meetings, writing up posts sans laptop and just in case I have any thoughts worth noting down. I’m also in the process of writing a novel so maybe Africa will give me some inspiration!
2. Sew Lomax MakeUp Bag.
I’ll be keeping my makeup and bits and pieces in my Sew Lomax MakeUp Bag. I really love these bags, they’re so roomy and the embroidery is the nicest touch. I’d really recommend SewLomax bags for any beauty lover!
I was sent a small vial of this and I absolutely love it. I’ve loved Argan Oil for a long time; it’s perfect for my frizz prone and damaged hair, and the one from Rana is divine. Many of the oils found in the UK aren’t as pure as you may think, therefore your skin and hair wouldn’t benefit as much as it would from using Rana Oil which doesn’t contain any beauty nasties like parabens, silicon, etc. Make sure you decant any products into see-through bottles, if your flight permits it. You wouldn’t want any products to get wasted!
4. Matthew Williamson Scarf.
I love a good scarf. They brighten up so many of my outfits (I’m a huge fan of black!). I’m also thinking it could be a good idea to take it onto the flight as I can wear it if I get chilly. I also like to tie them onto the handles of bags to give them a new lease of life!
5. Tangle Teezer.
If you haven’t tried a tangle teezer, I insist you do right away. My hairdresser friend once used one on my hair and I was amazed at how painless it was getting my knotty hair knotless! They come in all sorts of fab colours, and although they’re a little odd to comprehend at first, you’ll never look at another brush again. Perfect for frizzy and thick hair! Also great if you have children who don’t like their hair being brushed- I believe they do some children’s ones!
6. Honey Trap Lipbalm by Lush.
I love, love, love this! It’s a chocolatey, vanillary, honey(ey?) smell and it smells like you should be eating it, not just putting it temptingly close to your mouth. I love honey in most beauty products and this lipbalm is just great to have in any bag. You can use it to give your cheeks a little shine to them too if you don’t want to clog your face with too much makeup on a long haul flight!
7. Travel Wallet by Disaster Designs.
This travel wallet is just one of many designs from shabby chic/vintage brand ‘Disaster’. Inside the wallet are compartments for your passport, currency, tickets, maps and anything else that is vital for your journey. I think this would make the perfect present for anyone travelling as it’s just so cute!
8. Sunglasses by Jeepers Peepers.
These are more for after the flight of course, I don’t want to look like too much of a diva!! I want a good majority of the sunglasses from Jeepers Peepers and if you’ve never heard of them or checked them out, go do it now. Your eyes will thank you!
What would you take on a long flight with you? Am I missing anything?
